About recent events in egypt and african colonization in general?

And the reluctance of president Muburak to step down and whatever else went on over there to either the british can anyone relate the recent events that went on in egypt to and/or roman empire(s) colonizing Africa? And also possibly relate it to the Italian colonization of Libya? I am writing a paper and am trying to relate the two events
