Does this sound like a good story plot?

A police officer is seriously injured and becomes paralyzed from the waste down. He wants to continue being a cop, but can't stand the pity and bigotry in the big city. He relocates to small town in Alaska where he begins to heal. While driving home, he encounters what he believes to be an injured wolf, he then takes it home and cares for it. Much to his surprise, he finds out that she is actually a werewolf, but of a different breed. She and her pack/family believe in feeding off animals only, and would never harm a human. The police officer develops a friendship with these creatures, and they help him solve crimes. He then becomes police chief of this small town. What do you think? Its only the barest of plots, but I can't stop thinking about this story, and the characters that could be built.
